Dalam kalimat type 3 conditional, bentuk perfect dari present conditional dapat digunakan.

Klausa if (kondisi)	Klausa utama (hasil/akibat)
If + past perfect	perfect continuous conditional
If this thing had happened	that thing would have been happening.

Fungsi

Perfect continuous conditional dapat digunakan dalam kalimat type 3 conditional. Bentuk ini merujuk ke akibat dari tindakan yang belum terpenuhi dalam klausa if dan menyatakan akibatnya sebagai tindakan yang belum selesai atau masih berlanjut.

Contoh

If the weather had been better (tetapi cuacanya tidak baik), I'd have been sitting in the garden when he arrived (tetapi saya tidak duduk).
If she hadn't got a job in London (tetapi dia mendapatkan pekerjaan), she would have been working in Paris (tetapi dia tidak bekerja di Paris).
If I had had a ball I would have been playing football.
If I had known it was dangerous I wouldn't have been climbing that cliff.

Perfect continuous conditional tense

Perfect continuous conditional tense dari kata kerja apa pun terdiri dari empat unsur:
would + have + been + present participle
Present participle dibentuk dengan mengambil bentuk dasar dari kata kerja dan menambahkan akhiran -ing.
