Do you know what it is? Yes, it’s the beauty of South Korea. If you are a fan of Korean bands or a lover of Korean drama then you will already know this beauty. For those of you who don’t, I’ll enlighten you.
As you are probably aware, South Korea is very popular amongst Indonesian teenagers for both its music industry and its popular drama shows. For those of you lucky enough to visit this place, you will see that it also has beautiful scenery and a very attractive culture and history.
Based on my research and my recent trip, South Korea has stunning scenery. Not only that, the people are both polite and disciplined. Let me tell you more about my trip.
The trip started on January 1st 2017, which means it was winter when I arrived. When I first arrived at the airport in Incheon, I was amazed by the shape of the building and what was inside. One of the first things I noticed was a picture of a Korean pop star on one of the airport trolleys. This made me really excited as I am a massive K-Pop fan.
The first place I visited was Jeju Island. This is a very popular place for honeymooners, so it has earned the nickname ‘Honeymoon Island’. Many people say that you go to Korea but you don’t go to Jeju Island, then you haven’t really been to Korea. It’s a really beautiful island and there are many interesting places to visit. When I was there I visited the Trick Eye Museum, the Hello Kitty Museum and the Teddy Bear Museum. The Trick Eye Museum was filled with loads of paintings that look real. It was really cool. At the Teddy Bear Museum there were loads of huge bears, most bigger than me!
Next I visited Nami Island. This is an artificial island where the popular drama Winter Sonata is set. It’s a great place to take photos as there are many well-made roads lined by huge trees on either side. It’s really beautiful. I also visited Myeongdong Street, which is famous for its delicious street food. I bought a 32cm ice-cream there! It was delicious, but I couldn’t move after eating it. I also bought some new albums, which made me really happy as a K-Pop lover.
Another beautiful place we visited was Seonsang Sunrise Peak. Unfortunately we missed the sunrise, but we still managed to take some beautiful pictures there. We also didn’t make it to the top because there were really strong winds at that time and the tour guide told us not to push ourselves as it could be dangerous. So, we only made it halfway, but it was still a great experience.
Now, enough about the beautiful scenery. Another reason you should visit Korea is for the food. Wow! It’s so delicious. You have to try Samgyetang. This is a chicken soup with rice stuffed inside the chicken. The soup is also mixed with ginseng. Try it with some salt and pepper to really enhance the flavours. Another delicious street food I tried was chicken gangjeong, this is chicken served with rice cakes and a sweet sauce.
Whilst you’re there you should also try dressing up in the traditional Korean clothes, Hanbok. The dresses are so beautiful, you really feel like a princess when you wear them. There are several studios where you can go and dress up in the clothes and get your photo taken in front of a traditional Korean backdrop.
So, if you’re a fan of K-Pop or Korean drama and are interested in any of the activities I’ve mentioned, or you just want to visit a really awesome place, then you have to visit South Korea. Trust me you won’t regret it and it is bound to be an unforgettable experience.
